End School Bus Accidents Once and For All

End School Bus Accidents Once and For All

Earlier this month, we wrote about a Philadelphia school bus accident that resulted in 45 kids being taken to the hospital.  Yesterday, another serious Pennsylvania school bus accident occurred and this one has had serious consequences.

On Wednesday afternoon, a first grade student from Pickering Elementary School was hit by a school bus in Exton, Pennsylvania.  The 6 year old boy had just been let off the bus when he was hit by the bus.

He was flown to Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware.  On Thursday afternoon, the child was reported to be in critical condition.

Can School Bus Accidents be Prevented?

Although school is letting out for the summer, now is the time to take additional actions to safeguard children who ride school buses. The summer is the perfect time for bus companies and school officials to review existing procedures, to determine if they are being properly implemented, and to determine if new procedures are needed.  Then, bus drivers and other relevant staff members can be properly trained before school begins next year.

We hope this child has a full, complete, and quick recovery and that there are no similar accidents to report during the 2010 – 2011 school year.
