$500,000 Settlement for Monroe county family
The family went to Camelback Resort for a mountain climbing event. When they arrived the event had not started yet so they participated in separate activities, and when they returned to the wall it was open. The children who participated were properly weighed and provided with instructions. The first two children participated and completed it without any issues. When the youngest went to complete the first wall she reached the top and was told by the instructor to ring the bell and let go to be lowered. The daughter felt like something was wrong and reached for the ladder to get down but the instructor reassured her that nothing was wrong. The youngest let go and dropped roughly 15 feet, landing on her feet and breaking her heel. She was taken to the hospital and luckily only suffered a broken left heel. The family suffered emotional distress from seeing the youngest fall from a height and get injured.
