The Cost of Fatal Pennsylvania Crashes

The Cost of Fatal Pennsylvania Crashes

Before we get started on this post, let’s be clear.  There is one thing – one cost- that is of paramount importance, after a fatal car accident.  That is the human cost, the loss of a life that could’ve been lived and the loss of friendship, companionship and love that could’ve been shared with family and friends.

Yet, there are still other costs that remain important.  As an accidental death lawyer in Pennsylvania, I found the following statistics to be important.  On average:

  • More than 1,000 people die in preventable Pennsylvania motor vehicle accidents each year.
  • The total cost of fatal Pennsylvania crashes is about $1.52 billion per year.  That figure includes about $17 million in medical costs and about $1.51 billion in lost wages. It does not include any other costs or pain and suffering.

These costs are not negligible for the Commonwealth or for individual families suffering the loss of a loved one.  If you have lost a loved one in a Pennsylvania motor vehicle crash, please contact a Pennsylvania wrongful death lawyer for more information about your rights and potential legal recovery.
