Fallen Tree Kills 30-Year-Old Driver in Chester County
On Thursday, December 5, 2024, a fatal car accident killed a 30-year-old woman and left a 5-year-old child in the hospital. The woman, whose name has not been released, was driving southbound on South Ship Road north of Stonegate Court when a part of a tree fell onto the car’s roof around 9:45 am.
The 30-year-old was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban when the tragedy occurred. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 5-year-old child rescued from the backseat was taken to Paoli Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries. Investigators attribute the fallen tree part to Thursday’s high winds. Residents stated that fallen trees and branches are not uncommon on Ship Road, especially on days with high winds.
